Dear representatives of the Belgian Quilters’ Association,
I’d like to personally invite members of the BQA to an upcoming international cultural event happening in Antwerp. It’s an evening celebrating Australian art (music, dance, literature) at DeSingel, followed by a drinks reception sponsored by Jacob’s Creek. You might be wondering why the BQA receives a personal invitation… well, that is because we are going to have a phenomenal original work of art on display during the concert and afterwards which might interest your members. The work is a quilt of 124.5″ x 85″, made of fabrics designed exclusively by Aboriginal Australians. It is displayed over three huge panels, and serves as a backdrop to our concert setting. The work will be available to inspect closer during the reception, and artist Terri Ahrens will be in attendance.
It’s a unique and once-off event, and it would be wonderful if you could forward this email invitation to the mailing list of the association. Groups of 10 or more receive a 20% discount on tickets, and seniors/youths/students/children have a discounted rate. You’ll find more info in the invitation below. This production supports youth artists in Belgium and education through cultural exploration.
Thank you very much for your assistance!
You’re invited to:
A Sunburnt Country
May 19, 20:00 | Blauwe Zaal, DeSingel, Antwerp
In this one-night-only concert, music, dance and literature tell a story of Australia’s history, current events and vibrant diversity of artistic style. Watch our trailer to see the team in action! William Barton, world-renowned didgeridoo artist and ambassador for the Aboriginal culture, is invited to Antwerp to compose and perform in the production – a very special and once-off appearance not to be missed! Also featuring in the concert are professional Australian dancers from Ballet Vlaanderen and the Dutch National Opera.
We invite you to a drinks reception following the concert, sponsored by Jacob’s Creek. Guests are not only treated to a night of Australian art, but can also enjoy fine Australian wine after the performance.
More information about the project, our mission, ticket booking, and what to expect can be found on our website. Tickets may also be booked by calling: +32 494 133 349.
We can’t wait to welcome you to this event!
